Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important political figure stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
